Linqto is excited to announce that influential global fintech investor and passionate philanthropist Haseeb Qureshi will be speaking at the June Global Investor Conference to be held on June 22, 2021.
GIC Speaker Spotlight – Haseeb Qureshi
At the age of 16, Haseeb Qureshi began playing online poker with $50. Within a few years, he had become a sponsored poker professional and a self-made millionaire. At age 21, he permanently retired from playing cards and wrote a best-selling book about the philosophy of poker. Seeking to advance his keen interest in technology and computer science, Haseeb enrolled in a coding bootcamp in San Francisco, which in turn led to key software engineering roles in payment systems security and blockchain architecture. At the same time, he became extensively involved with sharing his skills and knowledge of all things crypto, by developing and teaching multi-disciplinary explorations of cryptocurrencies which span computer science, distributed systems, cryptography, economics, game theory, politics, and history.
Haseeb is passionate about pursuing philanthropic endeavors, and is a member of Founders Pledge, which enables entrepreneurs and investors to give a portion of personal proceeds on liquidity to social causes and charities. In support of this vision, Haseeb is a Managing Partner at Dragonfly Capital, an innovative venture investment firm that focuses on opportunities in decentralized technologies that are global from day one. The firm’s philosophy is that crypto-tech is inherently borderless; from the moment a protocol is launched, its users span the world, and thus a modern crypto investment firm should reflect that global perspective.
The firm recently announced the launch of Dragonfly Fund II, a $225M venture fund, which is partnering with some of the top minds across the world. Its investments will concentrate on building crypto infrastructure, decentralized protocols, and breakthrough consumer applications that will help build durable, longstanding bridges between Western and Asian communities. Dragonfly Capital‘s investment focus on transnational crypto-tech businesses resonates well with Linqto‘s strategy of bringing globally-scoped defi firms to its users. For example, we are proud to include successful crypto-centric unicorns like Robinhood, Ripple, and Coinbase in our previous inventory of companies. More recently, Marqeta, another globally-focused venture and one of our currently-listed opportunities, has begun to rapidly expand its card-issuing and payments platform across Europe, North America, Australia, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
