Gaurav Tewari is the Managing Partner of Omega Venture Partners, a premier venture capital technology investment firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. Gaurav brings extensive leadership experience from his investment and operating background across the technology and venture capital industries. At OMEGA, he leads investments in transformative, breakthrough companies capitalizing upon the next major evolution in information technology, towards artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Gaurav has a record of driving technology-enabled disruptive innovation at global companies and possesses over 20 years of technology investment and software industry experience at blue-chip organizations. He has invested in dozens of private companies, which have collectively generated over $50B in IPO and M&A outcomes to-date. Prior to Omega Venture Partners, as Managing Director of Citigroup, Gaurav led Citi’s global technology investment franchise. Prior to Citi, he was the Managing Director of SAP Ventures, the venture capital franchise of SAP Corporation, and Principal of Highland Capital Partners. He has held leadership positions within Corporate Strategy and Product Management at Microsoft Corporation, and in Engineering and R&D at IBM. With McKinsey & Company, he advised management teams of Fortune 500 companies on strategy, organization, and innovation.
Gaurav has invented 9 issued US patents and has authored original research papers relating to innovation and technology. He has been honored with awards and recognized for his contributions by national and international organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Ford Foundation, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Computing Research Association (CRA), Sigma Xi (the Scientific Research Society), IBM Corporation, Microsoft, the Omnicom Media Group, and others.
Gaurav graduated as Valedictorian (Ford Fellow) of the MBA program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science with high distinction from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the MIT Media Lab’s Software Agents group.
